Testimony of our Founder: Bro. Ricky Cothren

     Bro. Ricky was born September 19, 1966. He was born blind due to cataracts, but was able to receive some sight after medical treatment and surgeries.  Being in a poor family though he did not have the money to pay for a surgery that would give him sight.  However, someone put an ad in a newspaper and one ended up in Viet Nam, due to the war.  There some soldiers took up an offering to pay for the surgery he needed giving him some sight.  Due to other complications which developed later he is still considered legally blind for life.  His vision for the ministry has never been hindered by this.
     On January 22, 1978 at 11 years old Bro. Ricky got saved by the grace of God and began singing in church with his brother Doug.  When given a new giant print Bible in 1979, by his Pastor, Bro. Ricky began searching the scriptures and later even created his own Bible teaching cassette tapes for his family and friends.  Not knowing that this was his first step in reaching his life’s ministry for the Lord.  At the age of 18, Bro. Ricky announced his call to preach the Gospel, determined that wherever God wanted him, that is where he would be.
     Bro. Ricky has preached in homes, fire departments, jails, on the radio, and Pastored in four churches.  Then in August of 1999, God led Bro. Ricky to start Gospel Broadcasting Inc. Then later on he allowed him to purchase WYZD Radio in Dobson, NC.  Bro. Cothren is continually working to improve and advance Gospel Broadcasting Inc.
